Traditional Chinese Medicine for Kings Cross
Josephine treats a wide variety of issues, including acute muscle pains and also more complex health conditions that may have accompanied a patient for many years.
Your first visit will usually include a consultation similar to that of visiting your GP in a private consultation room, where you can discuss your health concerns and the reason for your visit.
You will also be asked a series of questions in relation to your health to gain a clear picture of your past and present health condition. Diagnostic techniques used by a TCM practitioner will usually include checking your pulse and observation of your tongue.
Qi (pronounced "chee") is the fundamental concept underpinning all of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Often translated as "vital energy" or "life force," Qi is understood as the animating substance that flows through the body's meridian network, powering every physiological function from breathing and digestion to immunity and emotional regulation.
TCM identifies several distinct types of Qi. Yuan Qi (original Qi) is inherited from parents and stored in the Kidneys. Gu Qi derives from food through the Spleen's transformative function. Zong Qi (gathering Qi) forms in the chest from the combination of inhaled air and Gu Qi. Wei Qi (defensive Qi) circulates on the body's surface, protecting against external pathogens. When Qi flows smoothly and abundantly, health is maintained. When Qi becomes deficient, stagnant, or rebels in the wrong direction, symptoms and disease arise.
Acupuncture works directly with Qi by inserting fine needles at specific points along the meridians to restore proper flow, tonify deficiency, or clear stagnation — rebalancing the body's energetic foundation.
Qi is the vital energy that circulates through the body's meridian system, powering all physiological functions including digestion, immunity, circulation, and mental activity. TCM views health as the smooth and abundant flow of Qi throughout the body.
Acupuncture needles are inserted at specific points along the meridians to influence Qi flow. Depending on the technique used, acupuncture can tonify deficient Qi, move stagnant Qi, redirect rebellious Qi, or clear excess Qi from areas of accumulation.
